I remember hearing my friend Scooter, former boat captain and human entertainment machine, say this and having to brace myself on the chair to keep from falling down. A song rang out in my head and I just sang it. One of the funner and easier songs to write. My children were excellent little helpers & we sang and danced around the house while we worked on it nearly a year!

I pitched Drive It several times in Nashville last year (at a Jason Blume BMI workshops) and will probably pitch it some more as both Dave Pacula of Ten Ten music, and publishing giant Woody Bomar of Green Hills Music liked it and told me so:) Woody was interested enough to take the lyrics, trade email with me, and hear a few other tunes of mine before breaking my heart weeks later and letting me know "he didn’t think he could get it cut at this time". This encounter has emboldened me to keep pitching! Email me to get more info about pitching you songs at the BMI Nashville workshops...it's free and legit! A little tricky to sign up:)

I’d been pitching Drive It by playing it live for publishers and finally decided to demo it. I was very lucky to find extraordinary Chicago musician & producer Mike Bizar while googling & listening to AJ Croce's Texas Ruby - The song that inspired the groove for Drive It. Turns out AJ & Mike are buds and touring mates - Check em out they’re amazing musicians/performers hi energy, soulful grounded artists! - Encouraging Souls of the first degree:). AJ plays piano on the recording and just kills it! Mike produced all the other tracks for this demo at his studio in southern California. An awesome experience for me!

She said “only if I drive”
We rode off singing side by side

I like to think that it was just our turn
No one to answer to and rubber to burn

We could ride all night
Or finally do what’s right
Park until the morning light
